Skin Discolorations - Advice

We women are fickle when it comes to beauty. I am sure - like myself - any advertisement that promises to get rid of wrinkles, freckles, scars and dark spots, solve our dry skin problems, solve our oily skin problems, make us more beautiful, or make us more youthful looking, makes your ears prick up too. Next thing we know we are running out to the nearest store, throwing our hard-earned money on the counter and buying it and like so many times before it ultimately becomes part of the products-that-broke-their-promise clutter that litter our bedrooms and bathrooms.

When skin lotion does little to alleviate all over dry skin or dry skin patches, hypothyroidism is often the culprit. Hypothyroidism occurs when a sluggish thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormone. The under activity tends to create thicker, drier skin which flakes and itches. Hypothyroidism usually manifests with dry skin, fatigue, weight gain , muscle cramps, sensitivity to cold, thinning hair and fluid retention. Thyroid hormone medication usually works to resolve the health issue.

You knew the 'E' word would make the list, so let's get it out of the way first. Exercise promotes circulation to the skin and increases the amount of nutrients that reaches the skin. Regular exercise keeps skin healthy and enables it to look and feel younger. Always wash face immediately after exercising to remove salt residue from sweating.

With a feather-light feel, this product camouflages flaws without any of the blending time or telltale streaks of foundation. This is an ingenious product for casual wear - - or the foundation phobic. Original and oil-free versions are available in seven shades. Received the Allure and InStyle Best Award.

Yes, the skin from your teen years may come back to haunt you during pregnancy. However, you can fight back. First, do not stop using moisturizer, just use one that is oil-free. The same goes for sunscreen. Use an oil-free version. Second, when you wash your face, choose a soap-free, mild cleanser. Something like Cetaphil is often a good choice. You also want to make sure not to over-wash your face.

Liver spots, freckles, wrinkles and other blemishes and skin discolorations are brought about by excessive exposure to the sun, also called photo damage. With the thinning ozone layer, your skin is exposed to the damaging ultraviolet rays from the Sun. If you need to go out in the morning, you need a good pair of sunglasses and sunscreen with high SPF.

Not all skin discolorations or changes are cancerous, but changes should be checked by a dermatologist. Early detection and treatment is the best way to successfully treat skin cancer.
