Benefits of red wine for our health

You can now get the health benefits of red wine even if you don't drink alcohol. The company ResVez just announced the launch of their new nutrition bar with resveratrol, a compound found in the skin of red grapes that makes red wine a healthy drink. Resveratrol has become a popular supplement after animal studies show that it prolonged life and has anti-cancer properties. It's thought to account for the "French paradox" - the observation that the French have a low rate of heart disease despite eating a high fat diet. One way to get the benefits of resveratrol is to sip on red wine; but drinking wine has its drawbacks including an increased risk of breast cancer in women. Now, you can get some of the benefits of red wine by eating a nutrition bar.

50% reduced risk of heart disease    50% reduced risk of blood clot related stroke    58% reduced risk of type two diabetes    56% reduced risk of lung cancer    42%-70% reduced risk of dementia    59% reduced risk of kidney stones    32% reduced chance of developing cataracts

The value to the system of regular, moderate red wine consumption was shown in the Framing ham Heart Study of 1970 but did not become public knowledge, thanks to the puritanical zeal of the National Institute of Health, who suppressed the information for a decade until the 1980 Honolulu Heart study again proved that drinking red wine on a regular basis reduced the risk of coronary heart disease by 50% compared to teetotalers.

The red wine you buy does not have to be the expensive ones if your budget doesn't allow for it as there are a great many bottles of red wine for sale that are nominally priced which will give you options and not necessarily make your move to enjoying the red wine benefits an expensive undertaking, what is critical is that you maintain a good healthy diet along with drinking red wine. When it comes to drinking red wine for its health benefits, Cabernet sauvignon is the clear leader of the flavoid pack. If you want to reap the benefits of something such as wine, then you should also be eating a healthy, well-balanced diet, drinking plenty of water and getting lots of regular exercise.

Have you ever wondered what gives grapes their brilliant red color? You can give the credit to the flavonoids found in red grapes that not only add color to the fruit but also provide significant health benefits. Two of the most important flavonoids found in grapes are resveratrol and quercitin. Both of these compounds are being studied for their potential to prevent disease.

Women seem to gain particular advantage from regular wine consumption as shown by the massive Harvard School of Public Health research called 'Nurses Health Study', that over 80,000 women participated in, over a 14 year period in the 1990's. With ages ranging from 25-80 years and the large number of individuals involved, it allowed a comprehensive catalog of the benefits women derived from drinking two glasses (6 ounces each) of red wine per day, consumed with food.

On the other hand, alcohol free wine has some health advantages of its own. It only has about a quarter of the calories of regular wine which can save significant calories if you plan on drinking it every day. One drawback to drinking regular wine is it increases the risk of breast cancer in women. Studies have shown that this is true of drinking any type of alcoholic beverage, so drinking alcohol free wine is a safer choice for women concerned about their breast cancer risk.
