I have tried many products over the years but as my skin ages I pay particularly close attention to the natural skin care products and what they claim. First of all, genes play a substantial part in having good skin. And I do believe a good diet is also essential. Now that being said, there is one product that stands out ahead of all the department store aging products. It's called Zia Natural Skincare.
Avon Moisture Therapy Pain Relief Lip Treatment contains soothing and healing ingredients in it like petrolatum, paraffin, polyethylene, ozokerite, zinc oxide, rice bran oil, soybean oil, jojoba seed oil, soybean sterols, vitamin e, camphor, silica, peppermint oil, vitamins, and other antioxidants. These ingredients help heal very dried out cracked lips and protect them from becoming further damaged by the cold dry air.
Vitamin E is recognized as a powerful antioxidant, and an especially heart-friendly nutrient. But with nuts and oil its primary sources, vitamin E is notoriously difficult to obtain from diet alone. In fact, as Oregon State University's Moret Traber observed, "to obtain enough vitamin E from food to obtain a reduction in the risk of cardiovascular disease and possibly cancer you would need to consume nine tablespoons of olive oil, 75 slices of whole wheat bread, and 40 almonds or 200 peanuts each and every day."
Natural vitamin E (labeled as d-alpha tocopherol) may not contain tocotrienols, says Koutoubi, so consider augmenting with "mixed tocotrienol" supplements. A typical dose is 40 to 50 mg. daily, taken with food. Certain medications, such as antibiotics and cholesterol-lowering drugs, can interfere with absorption of tocotrienols, so do not take them at the same time. Anyone who is pregnant, nursing or taking prescription medication should consult with a physician before taking supplements of any kind.
Zia has several skin care products including makeup. They are all organic based. They do have an aging skin care product Ultimate Moisturizer that is under an ounce for $35.95. However, I find that their Daily Moisturizer works just as well on aging skin which costs $19.95 for 1.5 ounces. What is amazing about Zia is the soft texture of this product. The texture is like a cross between a light gel and a light cream unlike Clinque which has a light greasy creamy texture. Aloe and rice bran oil in ZIA provide light, non-greasy moisture to soften and nourish the skin. Clinque 's Superdefense cost is $40 for a 1.7 ounce jar!
More antioxidant-manufacturing companies are using rice bran oil as their basic oil because rice bran oil has good oxidative stability. In Japan, rice bran oil is popular. So is the eating of rice bran in baked goods and cereals. For centuries, Japanese women used rice bran oil to smooth wrinkles out on their face. Rice bran oil today is used to make soaps. According to the article at the Honest Foods.com site, "Most Japanese restaurants in the USA have now switched to Rice Bran Oil for their Tempura Frying Oil because of its superior performance in this special application."
