Dengue Fever Considered

The chemical companies saw a great way to increase their sales by marketing poisonous chemicals that we could spray all over our bodies. As someone who grew up with a lot of mosquitoes within the summer months we always had to rely on off or we could not go outside or to the lake. For the most component these products work but if you do not keep applying frequently you can look up and see huge welts all over your system.

Several studies have shown that shifts brought about by climate change make ocean and freshwater environments more susceptible to toxic algae blooms and allow harmful microbes and bacteria to proliferate.      Global Warming will also increase rainfall intensity. Rainfalls will be heavier, triggering sewage overflows, contaminating drinking water and endangering beachgoers. Higher lake and ocean temperatures will cause bacteria, parasites and algal blooms to flourish. Warmer weather and heavier rains also will mean more mosquitoes, which can carry the West Nile virus, malaria and dengue fever. Fresh produce and shellfish are more likely to become contaminated.

Other symptoms include a sudden onset of severe headache, muscle, joint pains and rashes. The dengue rash is characteristically bright red and usually appears first on the lower limbs and the chest; in some patients, it spreads to cover most of the body. There may also be gastritis with some combination of associated abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

West Nile Virus is a disease that can be transmitted by infected mosquitoes. It is considered an infectious virus. Symptoms include fever, neck pain, headache, body aches, rash, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, weakness, nausea and vomiting, maculopapular rash, altered mental state, photophobia, diarrhea, stiff neck, fatigue, malaise, lethargy, muscle pain, seizures and coma. This disease is the most common of the listed diseases in the United States. It is a very serious disease and like the others, it needs to be addressed by a doctor immediately.

Keep in mind that when it comes to all of the serious mosquito borne diseases, prevention is always better than a cure, even if there happens to be one. It is always best to limit the chance of being bitten and infected by mosquitoes in the first place. You should always wear loose fitting, long sleeved shirts and slacks and use a DEET containing insect repellent when mosquitoes become active near dusk. Also, be sure to kill all the mosquitoes in your room before going to sleep, and always use mosquito nets and coils when you are camping or planning on sleeping outdoors.

While there have been a few small outbreaks of Dengue fever in Texas since the 1970's, they have been attributed to corresponding outbreaks in Mexican towns along the US/Mexico border. Presumably, the Mexican towns are more likely to have unchecked mosquito breeding areas, like open cisterns and wells. In any case, the emergence of the virus in Florida is the first in the U.S. of unknown origin in quite some time.

Global warming will mean more frequent heat waves with deadly effects and the earth temperature will keep steadily rising. Global warming will seriously affect agriculture sector which not only feeds us but also acts as one of the most important contributing factors in solving environment related issues. If agriculture gets affected then problem of malnutrition and starvation may arise. Acute droughts will become more frequent and severe if global warming is not arrested and as a consequence, availability of safe drinking water will become scarce. As the frequency and severity of natural calamities increase, they will endanger human health beyond all medical treatment.
